Surveying river communities throughout Puerto Rico, Dr. Perez-Reyes's work has helped in revealing the importance of freshwater shrimp within tropical rivers and their role in maintaining healthy watersheds and clean water.
This research adds to a growing body of science documenting the complexity and valuable ecosystem services of tropical river ecosystems.
